Find your chromatography direction prior to process development

Novel Pre-Screening Kit

Choosing the right stationary phase for your new purification process is a crucial decision, as it will not only have a significant impact on the process economics of the purification step, but it may very well drive the economic feasibility of your entire API manufacturing process.

Since it is impossible to predict which stationary phase will provide the best outcome for any given process, bench-scale trials are necessary to discover the right solution for your unique molecule.

Nowadays, the scientist’s stationary phase choices are too numerous! You may have dozens, or even hundreds, of “trial” or “scouting” columns available to compare. These comparison experiments are referred to as “column screening” by chromatographers. However, screening numerous columns is an inefficient practice that costs too much time and money.

DAISOGEL recognized this challenge and developed the COMPASS, a novel pre-screening kit for chromatography media selection. The COMPASS points you in the right direction so you can reach your stationary phase goals in the shortest time.

Four Steps to Efficient Process Development

PRE-SCREEN

Find your phase direction

Select your column size and particle size, then use the DAISOGEL COMPASS kit to quickly determine the appropriate bonded phase for your separation.

CROSS-CHECK

Refer to our screening guide

Check our screening guide to direct you towards the appropriate DAISOGEL products to screen for your application based on the COMPASS results.

SCREEN

Compare various phases

Experimentally screen the chosen assortment of appropriate trial columns on your molecule.

SELECT

Choose the best solution

Select the best stationary phase based on your screening experiment results.

The COMPASS is a novel column kit containing four unique bonded phases intended for pre-screening your compound

What is the COMPASS?

The COMPASS is not a screening kit. It is a kit comprised of four columns that each have a unique stationary phase utilizing a different separation mechanism to be used prior to screening. With the COMPASS, you can quickly test your molecule on four phases to determine which direction you should take for an optimized screening.

*The COMPASS kit is available in two particle size configurations. The Standard COMPASS kit is offered with 8 μm particles to provide the best separation insight while still informing preparative performance. Our new Rapid COMPASS kit is offered with 3 μm particles to provide pre-screening results in as short as 6 minutes per column – ideal for busy method development scientists.

For different column sizes, custom COMPASS is available on request.
